Gatherings
Pyrokinetika remains open to the public during the monthly
gatherings at my house in Centerville, OH. Gatherings are on
certain Fridays, and true to our roots, remain free to all. Anyone and everyone is
welcome to come to our gatherings. Gatherings generally begin
at 8pm, after specialty classes, which are also available to the
public. If you are interested,
please contact me, and I will send you directions.
Pyro-Related Activities:
The main activity at Kin Gatherings consist of the fire arts,
and other related juggling arts.
Currently, kin members do the following (and more!): hooping, poi, staff,
meteors, ball juggling, club juggling, contact juggling, fire fans,
fire eating, fire breathing, contact fire/transfer work, diabolo,
devil sticks, hooping, colored flame experimentation, etc.
Non-Pyro Activities:
As mentioned, these are informal gatherings, and not everything
we do deals with the fire arts!
Here is a list of relatively common goings-on at Kin Gatherings:
socializing, drumming (especially doumbek), belly dancing,
socializing, swing dancing, DDR, watching amusing internet videos,
and more socializing.
Children and Pets:
Children and pets are welcome at Kin Gatherings, provided they
are well-behaved. Children must understand the concept of not
going near active fire performers, and also how to react to a "HOLD"
call. Although we have a fenced yard, we ask that if you bring
a pet that you also bring some method of restraint (such as a tie or
carrier), in case it is needed. We are not responsible for any
accidents that occur to you, your children, or your pets at a Kin
Gathering!
Fire Policy:
Kin members must pass the Pyrokinetika Safety Test before
lighting up at a Kin event (Gatherings included). Visitors
from other fire troupes/groups do not need to pass this test if I
believe them to be safety-oriented. I reserve the right to bar anyone I believe to be
unsafe from lighting up, and to put a stop to all unsafe practices
at a Kin Gathering. NO alcohol or other mind-altering substances are
allowed at Kin Gatherings.
