About Us
Pyrokinetika is a safety-centric fire and performing arts
organization based out of Dayton, OH. We are dedicated to providing
a safe and supportive environment for learning fire arts, and
providing quality, professional entertainment.
Pyrokinetika Arts:
Currently, our skills include: hooping, poi, staff, ball juggling,
club juggling, contact juggling, fire fans, fire fingers, fire eating, fire
breathing, contact fire/transfer work, diabolo, partner work,
meteors, colored flames, middle eastern dance and drumming.
History:
Pyrokinetika began
unofficially in the summer of 2005, when founder, Natasha (Erica),
began connecting with other local fire artists. They joined
together to learn from each other, and share information with others
interested in the fire arts. In September 2005, at one of their
weekly gatherings, they unanimously decided on a name for
themselves: Pyrokinetika. Soon, due to the close friendship of the
group a common nickname came to be used by the members: "The Kin."
As the members grew in
skill and confidence, so did their aspirations. Now weekly classes
in poi and hooping are offered at Kira's Oasis dance studio.
Professional performances and workshops in many topics are also
available.
Founding Members:
Pyrokinetika is open to anyone who would like to join us at our
gatherings or classes. However, our primary core consists of
our founding members: Natasha, Luna, Shannon, Jess, Dan, Shelley,
and Skip.
